Print Unicode with MAPPING Suite
Process your double-byte print spool files in any code page.

The Unicode version of MAPPING Suite XPS makes it possible to print, email, and archive, while mixing any language in the same document.  Your documents can mix English with French, Arabic, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc in the same page.  DBCS, or double-byte character set print design is easy and execution is fast with MAPPING Suite.

As far as printing is concerned, MAPPING has developed a font management solution that supports Unicode and double byte character string on all PCL5 printers on the market.

MAPPING Suite XPS eliminates the need for multi-language plug-ins in PDF Readers as PDF documents produced with MAPPING Suite encompass Unicode fonts and encodings required to perform searches and copy/paste text in any language.

Unicode archiving makes it possible to display and search documents in a Web interface on a single machine without having to worry about which country the document comes from, which enables you to federate archive servers on a global scale.

In Unicode mode, you no longer need to design one template or set up one font selection by language group. All you need to do is design one single document, which makes it easier to maintain templates through time.

What's more, MAPPING Suite Unicode includes converters to migrate your documents from one specific code page (e.g. 1252,125x, iso-8851-1, iso-8851-x, ....) to Unicode.  Among those converters, our products also include EBCDIC (e.g. 297,500,1147, 37, ...) to Unicode code page converters.

MAPPING Suite Unicode supports True Type Fonts (Open Type), TTC (True Type Collection) and TTE.  MAPPING Suite Unicode also manages UDC (User Defined Characters) and UPA (User Private Area), for handling Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

MAPPING Suite Unicode runs natively on iSeries (AS400), Windows Server, Linux (RedHat, Suse) and Unix (HPUX, SUN SOLARIS, AIX) and includes support for all the code pages on the Unicode MAPPING Suite webpage.

Unicode: A computer standard for encoding characters developed by the non-profit consortium Unicode Inc. Each character is represented by sixteen bits. Whereas ASCII, being an 8-bit encoding scheme, can only represent 256 characters, Unicode has 65,536 combinations, enabling it to encode the letters of all written languages as well as thousands of characters in languages such as Japanese and Chinese.

DBCS: Short for double-byte character set, a character set that uses two-byte (16-bit) characters rather than one-byte (8-bit) characters. Some languages, such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean, have writing schemes with many different characters that cannot be represented with single-byte codes such as ASCII and EBCDIC. In a single-byte character set, the possible number of binary combinations is 256; the number increases to 65,536 in a double byte character set. This is standardized in Unicode.
